Marc Bekoff is a former Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is a Fellow of the Animal Behavior Society and a past Guggenheim Fellow. He and Jane Goodall co-founded the organization Ethologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals: Citizens for Responsible Animal Behavior Studies in 2000. He is the author of 22 books, including, The Emotional Lives of Animals (2007), Animals Matter: A Biologist Explains Why We Should Treat Animals with Compassion and Respect (2007), and The Animal Manifesto (2010).
